What can I say about Ray Campi absolute legend! Says it all really, if you don't know much about him then frankly where have you been, if you are genuinely new to the rockabilly scene then this album is a great addition to start your collection.

Part records have started to re release the classic Rollin Rock records of the 70's with 2 original albums on one CD (Mac Curtis also has a volume out in the same format) Theses recordings were all recorded by Ronny Weiser in LA in the 70's where single handed he renewed the careers of many 50's legends and helped kick start the revival that was soon to follow. The original vinyl versions of these discs are now very sought after.

So what about the music, Ray does what he does best, lays down straight forward rockabilly playing the majority of the instruments himself and hicuoping his way through the vocals in his own distinctive style. I cannot highlight any stand out tracks here just total rockin from start to finish over the 25 tracks of pure classics.

Part should be congratulated on bringing these albums out in this format, you get a great booklet with up to date notes and in this case comments by Ray, Ronnie and Wild Bob Burgos and Rip Masters.

As the title suggests its Vol 1 so 'roll' on Vol 2 and lets see what other artists Part release so that we can rediscover this true goldmine of rockabilly magic that is Rollin Rock.

5 Stars no arguments just rock!
