Hailing from Stockholm- Sweden Ragged Bones are a Rockabilly trio with their roots firmly in the ‘80’s ‘Neo’ & ‘Physco’ scenes. There is a stripped back and raw feel to their 6 self composed numbers on this debut disc, the notes provided by the band indicate that they have shared the stage with the likes of the Polecats and the Frantic Flintstones and it’s clear such acts are their inspiration, no bad thing, and they do a fine job of bringing that raucous feel to their music.

The opener Snatch and Grab It rattles along at full speed, bass slapping and snare drum rolling along, guitar riffs are strong and lively, Back on Duty is a mid paced rocker Gotta Get Away again pounds through complete with backing yells. Jump Right In sees the bass get even faster, if you thought that possible before The Diggin Done brings a bluesier pace to proceedings finishing with Wont Back Down another full throttle neo belter.

A strong set from a group that show distinct promise, the vocals and musicianship are good throughout, they have a tight paced and frenetic energy about them that belts out from the speakers and should make anyone who likes their rockabilly, hard, fast and frantic want to get up and slam about. I should imagine that they could be a bit wild on stage which would appeal to myself, perhaps they will make their way to the UK one day.

Great to hear a young band embracing this genre of rockin’ and helping to move it forward, Jesper Kempe provides Vocals and Guitar, Anders Deurell upright bass and harmonica & Jonas Franson on Drums.
