There is a new book called 'ROCKABILLY UNDERGROUND LONDON 1980s' written by William Jones. It takes a detailed look at the thriving Rockabilly scene in 1980s London - perhaps the best place to be at the time. Includes interviews with many of the scene's important figures, and a whole lot of photos from the era....

Piano Rocker MR BREATHLESS will have a new album called "Ooh Yeah Baby!", and THE BEETLECRUSHERS unleash their brand of Teddyboy style Rock 'n' Roll with an album called "Rrriot!"....

'Hairspray' and 'Cry Baby' movie remakes

'Hairspray' remake of the cheesy 1988 comedy about 1962 Baltimore teenagers is hitting our screens again this July.
Also we heard that another cult John Waters movie "Cry Baby" is about to be re-made. It's only a rumour, but you never know......

The Lonesome Spurs open for Stray Cats

The Lonesome Spurs, known as 'the White Stripes of Country' have been announced as the opening act for the Stray Cats at their Green Bay, Wisconsin leg of the tour on 27th July.
Also the Lonesome Spurs (Danny B. Harvey & Lynda Kay Parker) are starting a three week tour over the US (with Unknown Hinson). Check out our gig guide for the dates.

Janis Martin has heart attack

Janis Martin has pulled out of the Americana festival to be held in Newark, Nottinghamshire from 6-8th July, due to a heart attack.
Rockabilly legend Ray Campi replace her on the bill headlining the Saturday night....

Ben Weisman has died

Ben Weisman, who helped write nearly 60 songs for Elvis Presley, including many for his movies, has died. He was 85.

Weisman, who had Alzheimer's disease and suffered a stroke last month, died at a long-term care hospital in Los Angeles.

His songs include "Wooden Heart", "Follow That Dream", "Fame and Fortune", "Rock-a-Hula Baby" and "Crawfish".

Brian Setzer has a new official Live Album called 'Red Hot & Wild!' due out in July 2007.

Setzer's long time drummer Bernie Dresel has decided to leave the band for personal reasons.

Bo Diddley is getting better!

After suffering a stroke on 13 May, rock 'n' roll legend was put in intensive care ward. For the past few days his health and condition improved after which he was moved to a regular hospital room at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Scene favourites Jimmy Sutton's Four Charms played there farewell show at the recent Rockin' 50 Fest in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The band members remain good friends, but decided to cease the Four Charms so that they can move on with other projects. So, we can expect more from Jimmy Sutton, Joes Patterson, Jonathan Doyle and Jim Barclay, but in different collectives.
