Hailing from Porto, Portugal, 49 Special is a country / honky tonk band that was formed in June 1998 by the fusion of the now defunct Rockabilly band The Tennessee Boys and two other musicians from the Portuguese rockin’ scene. Since then, the band have been working on their self penned material as well as bringing their musical roots influences on country & western tunes. They have played all over Portugal, and in Europe they have already done all the major Rock’n’Roll and Rockabilly festivals across countries like Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, USA and the U.K. and now there are a bunch of invitations flying in from promoters of countries where they have passed through but also interest shown by other promoters in Australia and Japan.
